NEWS: App to Connect Aspiring Actors and Entertainers Expected to Launch Soon. Entertainment Oxygen is in Beta Testing….

Aspiring and professional entertainers — including writers, producers, actors and musicians — can be bombarded with a slew of possibilities for classes, auditions and networking events.

A new company has created a digital platform within an app that streamlines all that, with the goal of making it easier for entertainment professionals to connect, communicate and collaborate.

Entertainment Oxygen, with HQ in Beverly Hills, created the app, which is completing beta testing.

One of the founders is Apple TungFong, who’s been involved with the entertainment industry for more than a decade. She previously served as SVP of Legacy Pictures.

Anthony Tai is the co-founder. He’s principal at Tai Financial Consulting.

TungFong said the catalyst for creating the company was her experience witnessing the challenges of aspiring entertainers, in terms of getting parts/gigs, building relationships and getting their scripts green-lit.

“I wanted to put together a digital ecosystem and marketplace to efficiently enable entertainment professionals to connect, communicate and collaborate – to be involved in a robust community,” she told OC Startups Now. “That is the genesis of Entertainment Oxygen. Oxygen energizes people, and our goal is to Oxygen-ize (energize) your career. But it also lets projects find the right above-the-line and below-the- line talent for a project.”

Above-the-line typically refers to screenwriters, producers, directors, casting directors and actors.

The app is free to start, but after a certain period of time, there will be a membership rate with various tiers of services and  pricing.

Similar entertainment industry-related apps that have recently launched include Industry Jump, which helps connect producers with freelancers and streamlines the operations involved with on-boarding and paying film crews for each project. See related story here.

And, there’s Muzaic, which provides a free platform for musicians to set up gigs with other musicians and find venues to play at. See related story here.

TungFong has been self-funding Entertainment Oxygen from the start. She declined to disclose by how much.

It’s currently looking for seed funding of $500,000 in a convertible note, she said.
