*NEWS: Global Startup Competition Winner

A startup that developed a cloud service for instantly creating apps based on spread sheet formats, without coding or macro writing, won a global startup competition Thursday in LA.

OpenAsApp, with HQ in Munich, beat out four other finalists to win 4FYN America’s awards. 4FYN is an acronym for Four Years From Now, with HQ in Barcelona.

The contest was part of the larger Mobile World Congress Americas three-day event at the LA Convention Center that wrapped up today.

With OpenAsApp, users can integrate apps with calculations, dashboards, lists and maps. It’s for businesses to share with their various divisions, employees and IT experts.

The 4YFN Americas Awards focuses on accelerating business development and the investment of new technologies within the startup community.

OpenAsApp now will receive exclusive opportunities alongside 4YFN and Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona, among other things.

The other finalists were Absolute Zero, a VR camera system; Ambeent, an AI- powered cloud platform to collaboratively bring mobile user experience to 5G WiFi without needing WiFi device ownership; Broomx Technologies, a VR startup that creates immersive 4-D experiences in physical spaces; and Stayfilm, which enables users to turn photos and videos into film.
