*NEWS: Rael Scores $17.5 Million in Series A Round

A company that makes organic products for women’s cycles scored $17.5 million in its Series A round, according to the company.

Rael, with HQ in Buena Park, raised the funds with lead investments by Mirae Asset and GS Retail Fund. Its previous investors, Softbank Ventures Korea and BAM Ventures, also participated.

It plans to use the funds for R&D, brand extension and global expansion, according to a press release it issued. Its direct-to-consumer site is And, it plans to explore partnerships with major brick-and-mortar retailers.

The company was founded by Aness An, Binna Won, and Paik in 2016 and previously raised $2.8 million.

Competition includes Lola, Cora, and Flex. Rael sells its products on Amazon, which include organic tampons and other feminine hygiene products, as well as a skincare line.

The company has an outpost in Korea.
