*PEOPLE: Angel Capital Association Elects John Harbison to its Board of Directors

The chairman emeritus of Tech Coast Angels, has been elected to the board of directors of the Angel Capital Association, which is reportedly the world’s leading professional association for angel investors.

The association provides public policy advocacy, professional development, resources, and networking on behalf of its more than 14,000 member angel investors across North America.

John Harbison is an active angel investor, who has also served as a director on boards of many early-stage companies including Connected Signals and GrandPad. (See most recent article about GrandPad here).

He has led 14 deals and personally invested in more than 60 startup companies.

Harbison previously co-founded Next Autoworks (funded by Kleiner Perkins and Google Ventures) and served in leadership positions, like as the CEO of SilentRunner and the president of Raytheon Commercial Ventures, as well as leading Booz•Allen Hamilton’s aerospace/defense and strategic alliances functional consulting practices.

He holds degrees from Harvard College, NYU Stern School of Business and Harvard Business School.

Harbison’s three-year term on the association board begins July 1.

Tech Coast Angels is reportedly the largest angel investor group in the U.S. and has been fueling the growth of innovative companies and entrepreneurs in SoCal since 1997.
