NEWS: OC CryptoCurrency Startup Gets Investment From Legendary Silicon Valley Investor, with New Base in Santa Monica….

A cryptocurrency startup, with HQ in Costa Mesa, has received a seed investment, the amount of which the company is declining to disclose at this time.

Lunarcrush‘s goal is to “bring transparency to the cryptocurrency markets through community-driven insights.”

The lead investor was Draper Goren Holm. This firm is the result of legendary Silicon Valley investor, Tim Draper, investing the majority of a $3 million round in management company Goren Holm Group in LA, late last year, according to news reports.

Draper has participated in funding rounds for Tesla, Microsoft-owned Skype and Coinbase.

The newly-minted Draper Goren Holm focuses on early-stage blockchain and cryptocurrency companies. Goren and Holm also host an annual Crypto Invest Summit in DTLA.

Lunarcrush describes its MO as a “social listening” tool to help investors identify whether a cryptocurrency is worth investing in. Its founders believe that cryptocurrencies are driven by the community, not earnings reports, nor management nor borders.

Joe Vezzani (CEO) and Jon Farjo (CPO) launched the company in 2018.

The startup raised $120,000 in its pre-seed round, including from Techstars LA.
