NEWS: Two Startups That OC Female Angel Investor Group Invested in Also Receive Investments from Shark Tank Investors

Two startups that OSEA has invested in have received investments from Shark Tank investors.

Genius Juice received a $500,000 investment – $250,000 from Mark Cuban and the other $250,000 from Barbara Corcoran, CEO Alex Bayer told OC Startups Now.

Genius Juice makes coconut smoothies and upcycles the coconuts after extracting the juice. It’s also in the midst of a WeFunder crowdfunding campaign, where it’s raised more than $288,000 to date.

The company reported a $4 million run rate, as of January, according to its WeFunder page. It saw its annual revenue triple from 2018 to 2019. And, it saw 116% year-over-year per store growth.

Genius Juice launched in Whole Foods in 2015 and is now in four geographical regions of Whole Foods stores. It’s also on the shelves in Albertson’s/Vons/Pavilions banner stores, Natural Grocers and Publix.

Ready Set Food in Encino received $350,000 from Cuban, according to a USC website. Daniel Zakowski is the CEO. His team comprises USC Marshall School of Business alumni, physicians and scientists.

The startup is a food allergy prevention company for babies.

OSEA is a group of female angel investors in OC led by Xandra Laskowski.
