UPDATE: Octane’s Ophthalmology Technology Summit in August Will Be Totally Virtual
Based on ongoing recommendations for social distancing, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Octane’s 2020 Ophthalmology Technology Summit in August will be 100% virtual.
This decision was made, in part, by industry partners and physicians, as well as planning committee and medical advisors, according to a June 10 press release.
The event will now span two-and-a-half days: August 6-8.
The virtual platform Octane plans to use for the summit will still provide various opportunities for collaboration.
There will be virtual rooms and meetings to enable networking, meeting and introductions.
The virtual format will also enable those from out-of-state, who could not have traveled to California, to participate.
The conference will be using a production company and studio to deliver “the highest quality experience,” according to the press release.
The plan is to resume this particular event in-person in 2021, while also including a virtual option.
However, Octane, at this moment, intends to proceed with a hybrid version of in-person and virtual events for its Technology Innovation Forum and Medical Technology Innovation Forum, both later this year.
Features of the virtual ophthalmology summit in August include:
– on-demand access: attendees will have full access to Octane’s content via a livestream, or at their convenience through a content library.
Some of the panels include The Eyecare Industry: COVID-19 & Beyond and How Will 2020 Impact the Future of Innovation?
See the agenda here.
– connect & network: Octane is expanding opportunities to connect and network with other attendees before, during and after the conference through its app, powered by Socio.
Virtual attendees can set up meetings, connect, visit booths and join small meetings.
The event will start with a virtual happy hour on the evening of August 6. That event will also include a tutorial of how to navigate the summit virtually.
– live Q&A: The platform will enable attendee Q&A’s during each panel, just as Octane does during the live events.
